Camp Counselor / Counselor-in-Training (Spring & Summer 2025)

Onward Industries is a outdoors nonprofit hosting immersive, nature-based experiences on the Southern California coast. We're entering our first full spring and summer seasons of camp, and we’re looking for enthusiastic, grounded, and creative humans to help us build something meaningful from the ground up.

About the Role
As a Camp Counselor or Counselor-in-Training (CIT), you’ll be part of a small, passionate team creating magical, memorable camp experiences for young people. Whether you’re leading a tidepool exploration, helping campers express themselves through art, leading a nature walk, or telling stories around the fire at our Catalina retreat center, your job is to help kids feel confident, curious, and connected to each other, to the earth, and to themselves.

This is more than a gig—it's a chance to shape the early roots of a growing, mission-driven program. We’re building a camp generations of young adventurers, and we’re looking for people excited to grow with us.

Who You Are

• At least 16 years old by the start of camp

• Energized by time outdoors, with a deep love for nature and the elements

• Creative and adaptable—you’re excited to problem-solve and bring fresh ideas

• Natural with kids: inspiring, patient, and playful

• A team player who can also take initiative when needed

• Open to learning and growing in community

Details

• Positions available for both Spring Break Camp (April 14-18) and Summer Camps

• Location: Marina del Rey (on the westside of LA). During summer we’ll travel together to Catalina Island

• Pay: Competitive with other local camps and based on experience

• Housing & meals covered during Catalina portion of summer camp

Bonus Points For:

• Previous camp or outdoor leadership experience

• Skills in art, nature education, wilderness skills, and storytelling

• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
