The Trip
Hello!
Thank you for supporting this vital community project.
Onward Industries is delighted to host participating Arc team members on a trip aboard our WWII era sailboat en route to our facility on Catalina Island for an offsite retreat full of belly laughs, relaxation, tapping in, and giving back. All proceeds help get our education center ready to host children’s and community programming.
The mission of Onward Industries is to build community and help reconnect folks with what’s vital. We use natural settings and a good heaping of creativity, connection, empathy, and stewardship in our nonprofit programming.
So THANK YOU. We are a small, community-supported nonprofit powered entirely by volunteers and by your generosity. Your participation and contribution help beyond measure.
The plan:
Let’s share a spirit filling weekend in a place of transcendent natural beauty while helping this nonprofit community project. In short: SUPER FUN WEEKEND!
You’ll stay in glamping accommodations. We’re working with Arc’s Captain of Culture to curate an exceptional weekend of vibing on the island. There will be hiking, on-the-water activities, and opportunities to unwind and connect with each other and the beautiful island landscape.
One afternoon will be dedicated to getting a little work done on this emerging space, a chance to give back and put your stamp on a vibrant community resource.

Cost:
To cover basic expenses for the weekend we’re asking for a contribution of $500 per person or $250 for plus-ones.
Your contribution includes: passage on Lindy* to/from the island, all food, and glamping accommodations at Onward Oceans in Catalina.
There’s also an option to leave an additional donation at checkout. We are volunteer-run and all money donated goes directly to our vital programming and to the restoration of this fabulous community space. Please consider helping us make an impact with a donation — your generosity fuels us!
*Max 25 people on Lindy voyages. The ferry from San Pedro>Two Harbors runs daily as well for those who prefer a shorter ride or if Lindy fills up. Voyage on Lindy is ~5hrs each way.
Packing & logistics:
A detailed packing list and trip info document will be sent out prior to the trip. Here are a few of the essential items you will be asked to bring:
Sleeping bag & pillow
Towel
Personal reusable cutlery, plate, bowl, water bottle & coffee mug
Warm clothes
NOTE: The logistics of travel by sea require flexibility due to sea state, unforeseen circumstances, etc. We’re traveling in winter, when weather/wind/sea are especially difficult to predict. Our primary concern is safety. Please allow for ample cushion on the tail end of our trip to accommodate unexpected delays. Please also prepare for last minute changes of itinerary or plan. Severe winds may force us to leave late or bring us back home early, etc. Be flexible, flow like agua, keep it positive.
Example Schedule:
Fri (June 27): Meet at Lindy at 8am, Depart MDR by 9am.
Fri-Sun: Barn raising awesomeness
Sun (June 29): Raise Anchor by 10am, back home around 3:30pm

Welcome to your waterfront Base!
The Onward Oceans Center is a rustic off-grid retreat space nestled in the middle of Cat Harbor on the undeveloped back side of Catalina Island.
This is a transformative place to unplug, relax, get funky, and tune in to the gorgeous natural surroundings of one of the most pristine marine environments on the California Coast.
The vibe here is summer camp! Campers stay in glamping tents on large comfy cots. Guys and girls bunkhouse-style tents invite new buds to giggle themselves to sleep. A small number of private group & individual tents are available as well.
The Oceans Center provides a full kitchen, composting toilets, a freshwater rinse, and access to miles and miles of trails, abundant kayaking & paddleboarding + endless opportunities for quiet, meditation, and reflection by the lapping water.
Please read our comprehensive expectations & guidelines for more details and what to expect on a typical Onward Industries trip.
